| Hey guys Just got started on the latest project for my Z while i'm waiting on the engine from the machine shop. I've always hated the look of A pillar gauges (no offense) and need 5 gauges (boost, fuel press, water temp, EGT x 2), so i've decided to go ahead and mount 5 below the radio in my Z. Center Console trim with ducting removed:
The Plan (gauge outlines, there will be minor changes):
After cutting excess trim out, a paper template for the plastic insert:
 Plastic Insert (abs plastic)
 After some liquid plastic:
After sanding and some more liquid plastic:
Its by no means done, i have more sanding to get a totally smooth surface, then filling tiny holes with icing, drilling the holes for the gauges, painting, and reassembly. I'm very happy with how its going - the liquid plastic on top of the abs insert is *very* rigid, much moreso than the console was before cutting away the second pocket. I went with defi gauges (defi-D ring gauges), since I wanted something good and matching the stock gauges (with aluminum rings). They light up amber (yuck) from the factory, but I'm in the middle of converting them to blue (with Jael's help, of course), so that they will match the rest of my blue dash - instrument panel and pods, as well as my pioneer dehp-7600MP. I'll post pictures of everything once it's further along.
